Project Attica recently delivered an artivist workshop with the students from the Leadership and Public Service High School. Our main area of discussion focused on how community organizations can create change in society by working from the bottom up to raise awareness, empower community members, and engage people about the issues that directly impact them. We discussed these issues within the context of the artivist concept so that students learned how they too could use art to be activists through art about the issues that they feel passionate about. We want to give a special shout out to the teacher who invited us, the students for their incredible participation, and to the Citizens Community for New York City for supporting our work.
